Dear Reader,
One of the things I love most about facilitating my in-person grief circles is bringing elements of nature into our gatherings. I often collect leaves, stones, branches, and other little treasures to create a nature mandala that becomes part of our shared experience.
Here's one from our last circle ...
I believe nature has so much to teach us about ourselves. After all, we are nature, too.
Recently, while gathering oak leaves from a beautiful tree in my backyard, I was reminded of something meaningful about grief and the process of letting go.
Some of the leaves were brown and fell away with barely a touch. Others were still yellow or green, holding tightly to their branches. No matter how much I tugged, they simply weren't ready to fall.
It made me think about all the things we carry in our grief. The stories, regrets, expectations, and ways of being that may have served us for a time. Some may be ready to fall away, while others still need our attention and care.
And perhaps one of the greatest lessons nature offers is that we don't have to force the process.
As we move through these final days of October, I invite you to spend a little time considering what this season of shedding might be revealing in your own life.
What might you be carrying that is ready to gently fall away? And what might still need a little more time?
There is room for both.

Community Membership: Befriending Grief through the Seasons
Something has ended, and life isn't quite what it used to be. You're no longer who you were, but you're not yet sure who you're becoming. Welcome to the messy middle.
Befriending Grief through the Seasons is an online community for navigating life's seasons of loss, change, and becoming. Guided by the rhythms and wisdom of Nature, we explore a different way of relating to grief through seasonal teachings, restorative practices, ritual, and meaningful connection.
Because whatever season you find yourself in, you don't have to navigate it alone.
All type of grief welcome.

Tuesday Evenings (7 - 8:15pm)
Community Grief Circles: Healing Roots Wellness Center
Every Tuesday evening, we gather in community to tend to the grief that we are carrying. This circle is for anyone - any loss - no matter how long it has been. Our format is simple: we light a candle at the beginning of the circle, there is a topic for the evening that is aligned with the rhythms of Nature, a grief-tending practice, and optional sharing. We close each circle with silence before extinguishing the flame.
Please try to sign up ahead of time, but you are more than welcome to make a game-time decision (I get it)!
