Dear Reader,
As October draws to a close and we move into November, we enter a season that many cultures and spiritual traditions have long recognized as a sacred time of remembrance.
There is an ancient knowing that during this time of year, the veil between the living and the dead grows thinner, making it a little bit easier to feel a deeper connection with those who came before us.
I've always been drawn to the mystery of this season, and especially to the invitation to remember and honor our ancestors.
In our modern culture, many of us have become disconnected from our ancestral roots. Perhaps these stories and traditions were never passed down to us, or maybe our family histories are complicated, painful, or simply unknown.
And that's okay.
When I think about honoring our ancestors, I'm thinking about something much larger than our immediate family tree. I'm thinking about the countless generations of human beings who lived, loved, struggled, endured, and survived long before we arrived.
Their lives, in ways we may never fully understand, made our own lives possible.
For me, connecting with our ancestors is also about cultivating a deeper sense of belonging. It's an opportunity to remember that we are part of something much larger than ourselves.
Watch my short video: Honoring Our Ancestors
As we enter this season of remembrance, I invite you to consider honoring those who came before you. Perhaps through lighting a candle, remembering a story or two, spending time in nature, or simply pausing to acknowledge the generations whose lives helped make yours possible.
And if you'd like to explore this together, I'll be hosting a free virtual Tender Days Grief Circle: Honoring Our Ancestors, where we'll gather for meditation, reflection, journaling, and conversation as we explore the meaning of ancestry, remembrance, and belonging.
Join this Free Circle!
I'd love to have you with us. ♥️

I love hearing your stories, getting to know your person or pet that has crossed or about a life ending that needs witnessing and tending. Interested in both?! Tuesday Evenings (7 - 8:15pm)
Community Grief Circles: Healing Roots Wellness Center
Every Tuesday evening, we gather in community to tend to the grief that we are carrying. This circle is for anyone - any loss - no matter how long it has been. Our format is simple: we light a candle at the beginning of the circle, there is a topic for the evening that is aligned with the rhythms of Nature, a grief-tending practice, and optional sharing. We close each circle with silence before extinguishing the flame.
Please try to sign up ahead of time, but you are more than welcome to make a game-time decision (I get it)!
